Our Amazing Stay at Bus Hostel Reykjavík

Before we arrived at Bus Hostel Reykjavík, I will be honest, I was a bit anxious. I wasn’t sure if we’d get a private bathroom or have to share. I kept wondering, How will we manage in a shared kitchen? What if it’s awkward or uncomfortable? All those little travel worries kept running through my head.

But the moment we walked in, everything changed.

We were greeted by the sweetest lady at the reception with a big smile. She checked us in super quickly and personally guided us to our room, no waiting around, no confusion. Just friendly, helpful vibes from the start.

Our room turned out to be cozy and welcoming. It had a soft, warm light, a spot to keep our bags, and the best part, instead of carrying a key or card everywhere, we just had to remember a simple code for the door. Honestly, it felt so convenient and eco-friendly.

We were starving by then and had brought some noodles with us, so I went back to reception and asked where the kitchen was. Not only did the same lovely lady point the way, but she also walked ahead and showed me herself. That small act made such a big difference.

The kitchen was way better than I expected. It had all the basics: induction stove, microwave, cutlery, dining chairs, fridge, and the vibe there was so friendly. People were cooking, chatting, and just naturally striking up conversations. Before we knew it, we were making friends while our noodles cooked.

And those bathroom worries? Gone. There were clean and well-kept toilets and showers on every floor, so many that we never had to wait, and it felt like we had our own private space most of the time. Everything was spotless. I kept wondering, How do they manage to keep this place so clean and organized?

Pretty quickly, the hostel started to feel like home. Every corner had something special, from the beautiful Icelandic scenes on the walls to the videos playing at reception showing off the country’s stunning views. It felt like we were still exploring Iceland even while indoors.

The whole vibe of the place was calm, cozy, and friendly. Everyone left their shoes outside their rooms, people were respectful of shared spaces, and the staff was wow. Always smiling, always ready to help. And not in a “just doing their job” kind of way, if you asked for help, they’d come out from behind the desk and walk you to wherever you needed to go.

By the end of the trip, I realized it wasn’t just the staff who were like that, it was Iceland in general. Almost everyone we met spoke English and genuinely tried to help. It made traveling around the country feel so easy and welcoming.

Looking back, the photo we took outside the hostel says it all. We were genuinely happy. All our initial worries had vanished. We didn’t just find a place to sleep, we found a little home in Reykjavík, thanks to the amazing people, the thoughtful setup, and the warm, welcoming vibe.

Thank you, Bus Hostel Reykjavík, for everything.

You made our Iceland trip so much better than we could have imagined. Because of your wonderful hospitality, we are already thinking about our next trip to Iceland, and without a doubt, we’d love to stay at Bus Hostel Reykjavík again. 💙
